Metrobuild provides pickup and delivery options for building materials across Melbourne and, where arranged, regional Victoria. Delivery availability, price and vehicle type depend on the products, order size, destination, access requirements and scheduling.

4.1 Delivery areas

Metrobuild primarily services Melbourne metropolitan areas and may arrange deliveries to regional Victoria and other locations by agreement. Some products may have supplier-direct or special freight requirements.

4.2 Delivery charges

Delivery charges are calculated according to factors such as destination, load size and weight, product type, vehicle required, site-access requirements, crane or forklift requirements, supplier freight and any special handling. The applicable delivery charge will be shown, quoted or confirmed before dispatch where reasonably practicable.

4.3 Delivery vehicles and unloading

Depending on the order and site, Metrobuild may deliver using a ute, tray truck, crane truck, forklift-equipped vehicle, Moffett or third-party carrier. The method of unloading is determined by Metrobuild based on safety, access, load configuration and available equipment.

Unless expressly agreed, delivery does not include installation, manual distribution of materials throughout the site, lifting to upper levels, traffic management, permits, road closures or other site services.

4.4 Site access and customer responsibilities

The customer must provide safe and suitable access for the delivery vehicle and unloading method. Before delivery, the customer must tell Metrobuild about relevant conditions including:

  • narrow roads, gates or driveways
  • low-clearance structures, trees or overhead powerlines
  • soft ground, steep grades, mud, uneven terrain or unstable surfaces
  • restricted parking or loading zones
  • construction-site induction or PPE requirements
  • traffic management, permits or booking requirements
  • any crane, forklift or spot-drop requirement
  • any other condition that may affect safe access or unloading

The driver may refuse to enter or unload at a location considered unsafe, unsuitable or likely to damage the vehicle, property, goods or surrounding area. Alternative unloading or redelivery charges may apply.

4.5 Delivery timeframes

Any delivery date or time is an estimate unless expressly confirmed as a contractual commitment in writing. Metrobuild will take reasonable steps to meet agreed schedules but delays may occur due to traffic, weather, supplier delays, vehicle issues, site access, safety requirements or other circumstances outside Metrobuild’s reasonable control.

Customers should avoid scheduling labour or critical works solely on the basis of an estimated delivery time unless delivery timing has been expressly confirmed.

4.6 Receiving a delivery

The customer should ensure that an authorised person is available where required to receive the delivery, confirm the drop location and inspect the goods. Where the customer authorises an unattended delivery, the customer accepts the reasonable risks associated with goods being left at the nominated location, subject to applicable law.

4.7 Failed delivery and redelivery

If delivery cannot be completed because of incorrect information, unavailable access, unsafe conditions, no authorised receiver where one is required, or other matters within the customer’s control, Metrobuild may charge reasonable waiting, storage, return-to-yard or redelivery costs.

4.8 Delivery by instalments

Large or mixed orders may be delivered in separate loads or instalments. Metrobuild will advise the customer where reasonably practicable.

4.9 Inspection on delivery

Customers should check quantities and visible condition as soon as reasonably practicable. If goods appear damaged, incorrect or short-delivered, notify Metrobuild promptly and provide photographs where possible. See the Returns & Refund Policy for further information.

4.10 Customer collection

Customers collecting goods must use a suitable vehicle and safe load-restraint method. Metrobuild may decline to load goods where the proposed vehicle, load configuration or restraint method appears unsafe or unsuitable. Responsibility for securing and transporting the load after collection rests with the customer or their carrier, subject to applicable law.

4.11 Risk and title

Risk and title in goods are governed by the applicable sale terms, invoice terms, credit terms and Australian law. Commercial credit customers should also refer to the separate Metrobuild Commercial Credit Terms.
